New Additions to our Starcke Range: New Corner Abrasives and Rotex Discs
For years at Ultimate Floor Care, we’ve relied on Starcke as our go-to supplier for belts, discs, pads, and pretty much everything sanding-related. Contractors across the UK know the name, and for good reason. Starcke abrasives are built on German engineering; they’re reliable, and they’ve stood the test of time in one of the toughest trades there is.
Over the years, we’ve added more and more of their products to our range. We listen to contractors, and when there’s a gap in the kit bag, we try to fill it. For this year’s October Grind Fest, we’re introducing two new Starcke abrasives that many of you have been asking for. They’re small changes, but they’ll save you time and headaches on site, and as every contractor knows, that’s what really matters.
Starcke 83mm Triangle Pads – Fein Multi Tool
The Fein multi-tool is one of those machines every contractor seems to carry. It’s versatile, reliable, and saves the day more often than not. Most people know it for quick fixes – trimming down excess pine slithers, cutting off or reducing protruding nails, clearing out dirt-filled gaps, or even handling the odd board repair. It’s basically the tool you reach for when you don’t want to lug around specialist kit but still need to get the job done.
The sanding attachment for the Fein is where things get interesting. Unlike a standard corner sander that usually takes a 90–100mm triangle, the Fein uses an 83mm pad. On paper, that 10–15mm difference might not look like much, but in practice, it’s the difference between sanding neatly into a corner and accidentally marking the skirting or wall. Too much paper is folded over the pad, and you’re scuffing the paintwork instead of sanding the floor.
Up until now, contractors have had to make do by trimming bigger triangles down with shears or cutting odd shapes from worn discs they had lying around in the van. It works, but it’s far from ideal. It takes time, wastes materials, and never quite gives the clean fit you need.
That’s why we’ve added Starcke 83mm triangles to the range. They’re the perfect size for the Fein multi tool no trimming, no bodging, no wasted time. Just grab a pack, stick them on, and get the corner sanding done properly. It’s one of those simple additions that makes the job smoother.
Starcke Silicon Carbide Discs – 150mm for Festool Rotex
Every contractor knows that edges can be the hardest part of sanding. Standard edgers are great for getting the job done quickly, but they can sometimes leave behind scratches or lines that stand out when you get to the finishing stage. That’s where the Festool Rotex comes in. It’s the go-to tool for blending the edges into the middle of the floor, smoothing out aggressive scratch marks, and giving you a surface that looks consistent from wall to wall. A lot of contractors will use the Rotex for that final sanding pass on the edges, just before applying oils or lacquers. This year, we’ve added something new to make that step even better – Starcke Silicon Carbide discs for the Rotex.
Why did we add silicone carbide rotex to our range:
Cleaner scratch pattern: Silicon carbide is sharper and fractures as you work, so it constantly creates new cutting edges. That means a finer, smoother surface that’s ready to take finish straight away.
Perfect for blending: If you’ve just run an edger and the marks are still showing, these discs will take care of them.
Contractor tested: We’ve tried these in the field and the results speak for themselves. They make the final pass quicker and cleaner.
Aluminium oxide discs are still a good choice, especially for earlier stages, but silicon carbide really comes into its own for that finishing edge work. If you’re aiming for a flawless final look, these are well worth a try.
The Full Starcke Range at Ultimate Floor Care
These new additions are just the latest in a long line of Starcke abrasives we stock. The Starke brand has built a reputation for quality and consistency, and it’s no surprise that so many contractors stick with them. Here’s a quick overview of what’s available:
Purple Ceramic belts and discs: Aggressive but consistent, ideal for heavy sanding.
Zirconia and Aluminium Oxide belts: Options for different machines and sanding stages.
As Starcke continues to develop new systems, we’ll keep adding them to the range. Our goal is to make sure you’ve always got the right abrasive for the right job – no compromises.
It’s easy to talk about specs, but the real test is on-site. Contractors keep coming back to Starcke because the discs last longer than many alternatives. The scratch patterns are consistent, so the finish looks professional. They’re reliable, you know what you’re getting, every time. When margins are tight and time is money, that reliability is worth as much as the finish itself. Starcke abrasives have been a cornerstone of floor sanding for years, and with these new additions 83mm Fein triangles and 150mm Silicon Carbide Rotex discs they’ve made life easier for contractors once again.
And don’t forget – throughout October Grind Fest 2025, you’ll get 5% off every abrasive in the Starcke range, along with the rest of our abrasive lines. It’s the perfect time to stock up, try something new, and get set for the busy winter period.
