LOBA Whitener is a concentrated additive designed to be mixed into selected LOBA water-based primers and lacquers to reduce yellowing and create a lighter, more natural wood appearance.
Many clients want pale timber floors, but standard finishes can add warmth and darken the wood over time. LOBA Whitener helps counteract this effect, keeping floors brighter and closer to the raw timber look.
Why choose LOBA Whitener?
- Reduces yellowing and ambering of the timber
- Creates a lighter, more modern floor appearance
- Adjustable depending on the level of whitening required
- Can be used in primers and finish coats
- Compatible with selected LOBA water-based systems
How to use it
The amount of Whitener you add depends on the look you're trying to achieve.
Subtle Natural Look
Mix 5% Whitener into the primer coat only.
This slightly reduces the natural warming effect of the finish while keeping the timber looking natural.
Modern Light Oak Look
Mix 10% Whitener into the primer coat and 5% into the first lacquer coat.
This is one of the most popular approaches for residential projects where clients want a brighter floor without making it look artificially white.
Maximum Whitening Effect
Mix 10% Whitener into the primer and 10% into the first lacquer coat.
This gives the strongest whitening effect while maintaining clarity and wood grain definition.
Important
Always mix thoroughly before application and keep the percentage consistent across the floor. Test panels are strongly recommended, as different timber species can react differently.
Best used on
- Oak flooring
- Light timber species
- Scandinavian-inspired interiors
- Projects where clients want a pale, untreated timber appearance
- Floors being finished with compatible LOBA water-based systems
If InvisibleProtect is designed to keep timber looking raw, Whitener gives you another level of control over colour. It's not a finish on its own—it's a tool for adjusting the final appearance of the floor. Ideal when a client wants a lighter, brighter floor without moving to stains or reactive treatments.
Typical Contractor System
