Your final sanding pattern makes a real difference to how the colour takes, so don’t rush it. Give the tin a good stir before you start.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eIf you’re using a microfibre applicator, put a thin coat down a section at a time, then run over it with a single disc machine and a white pad to even it out and lift the excess.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eIf you’re using cloths, work about 2 to 3m² at a time. Wipe it on with one cloth and take the excess straight off with a second.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eLet it dry fully, then finish with a LOBA water-based lacquer, sanding lightly before the last coat. If you’re oiling, apply two coats of LOBA HardwaxOil with a roller.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThings worth knowing\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eDo a sample on the actual floor first and get the customer to approve it. The species, the grain and how the floor has been sanded all change the final colour, and once stain is in the wood you can’t sand it back to how it was.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eOn a bigger floor that needs more than one tin, mix all the stain together in a bucket before you start so the colour stays the same from one end of the room to the other.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eDon’t skimp on the first coat of lacquer. If it goes on too thin, you can sand through the colour when you de-nib.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eWhite on oak can be tricky because the tannin in the wood can come through. LOBA recommends PrimaSeal or 2K InvisibleProtect over Strong White to stop this. If you use PrimaSeal, allow two hours for the stain to dry rather than one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eFor the browns and darker colours, LOBA Amberizer will give you a deeper, warmer finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eCheck your gap filler before you start, because not all of them take stain well.
